Insomniac's Spider-Man is a single-player superhero game with no online mode — the whole experience is the story, the traversal and the collectible-fed upgrade economy.
Those collectibles gate suit mods, gadgets and skill upgrades; token and XP tools let players who just want to swing and fight unlock the loadout they want without 100%-ing the map first.
The joy is swinging and fighting, not collectible checklists. Token tools unlock the gadgets and suits so you can just play.
